Emergency Medical Services


  • Be above the age of 18 (those 13-17 years of age who are interested in joining are encouraged to look into our Junior Firefighter program)
  • Be a resident of the City of Falls City or of the immediate Rural District
  • Possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License
  • Have a good driving record
  • Must pass a criminal background check, State and National
  • Be of good health
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, work in extreme conditions
  • Be of good character
  • Be of good standing in the community
  • All Medics are required to successfully complete at least the EMR Program


  • Be an Oregon State Certified EMR or higher in good standing


Successfully complete the next scheduled EMR class and become certified as an EMR

The following provided training must be completed to respond on medical calls:

  • Sexual Harassment
  • Patient Confidentiality
  • Accountability
  • Blood Borne Pathogens
  • American Heart BLS Health Care Provider level CPR/AED and First Aid


  • Must work directly under the Fire Chief, EMS Coordinator, and the Medical Director within your scope of practice at all times
  • Obey all commands of the Officers while on duty
  • Attend business meetings which are on the first Wednesday of the month at 7PM
  • Attend all EMS drills and training exercises. Regular EMS drills are on the second and fourth Thursdays 6:30PM to 8:00PM
  • Respond to Falls City calls and mutual aid requests whenever possible
